Kitchener man in critical condition after plane crash

A Kitchener man is in critical condition in an Ohio hospital after the plane he was flying crashed into a corn field on Saturday morning.

The Record reports that 64-year-old Hans Asam was piloting a single-engine Piper Tomahawk when it went down in a field near the Toledo Executive Airport.

An Ohio state highway patrol sergeant tells the paper that witness accounts indicate there was some kind of engine trouble.

Witnesses said it looked as though the plane was trying to reach the airport when it crashed nose first.

Asam was listed in critical condition yesterday.
