Humane society seeks whoever cut hind feet off a rabbit, leaving it to die

Animal helpers in Cambridge are left shaking their heads after a rabbit was found Saturday night with its hind feet cut off.

From the look of the cuts, staff at the Cambridge and District Humane Society say it was deliberate.

They made the discovery on Sunset Boulevard on Saturday night and had to put down the rabbit.

Bonnie Deekon, executive director of the Cambridge and District Humane Society, says they’re looking to catch the culprit:

“You know what the rabbit’s feet are normally used for: luck. My feeling is, it won’t have any luck for the person who did this.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tracy Laraway of the humane society at 519-623-8774 ext. 224.

“The feeling was that perhaps because this was a wild animal, we shouldn’t get involved,” says Deekon.

“But be it wild or domestic, the Cambridge and District Humane Society will always be there to support animals.”
