Elmira’s Garrett Rank wins Ont. Mid-Amateur Championship at Westmount

Elmira’s Garrett Rank has won his first Golf Association of Ontario Investors Group Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

The 27-year-old, who’s also a referee in the National Hockey League, was 3-under (70) in the final round at Kitchener’s
Westmount Golf & Country Club on Thursday. He finished 7-under for the tournament.

Toronto’s Kevin Fawcett earned the silver medal, finishing 2-under and New Hamburg’s Josh Hunke claimed bronze. He was 1-under.

“It feels good! Any time you can win a tournament and put yourself in a winning position it feels really good,” said Rank.

Rank will represent Canada at next month’s Pan Am Games. The golf competition is set for Angus Glen Golf Club
from July 16th through to the 19th.
