Guelph-based autoparts maker Linamar is teaming up with Conestoga College in an effort to help those interested in getting into industrial skilled trades.
The scholarship program was announced today at a special presentation at Conestoga’s Cambridge campus.
Linamar announced they will provide $500,000 to Conestoga College over the next five years.
The scholarship will provide six students in Conestoga’s Mechanical Technician with more than $3,000 each to offset the costs associated with their studies.
It will be renewed for students with good academic standing which means the scholarship could fund almost half the costs of the program.
Six additional scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants each year.
Students will be offered co-op term employment with Linamar during their program as well as full-time employment upon successful completion.
