Job action by local elementary teachers means report cards will look different this year

Job action by elementary teachers in the Waterloo Region District School Board will mean report cards will look different this year.

Board spokesperson Marty Deacon says the job action by teachers has prevented them for noramlly entering report card information into the board’s computer system.

She says this means the end of year reports will have a different look and feel but at this point don’t know in what way

“We are working right now with the ministry and other boards to determine if there is an alternate for of report card that we can do, what we can provide to families, and recognition of a pretty significant challenge in trying to produce over 40,000 report cards.”

She adds some of the options include a letter that informs families if their student passed or failed or a statement of pass or failure with the previous report card attached.

She says they will wait and see what the Ministry recommends.
