Spike Lee talks drafting single-player story for ‘NBA 2K16’ video game

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – “NBA 2K16” will be a Spike Lee joint.

2K Games says the acclaimed filmmaker has been recruited to write and direct the single-player campaign for the interactive basketball franchise’s next edition.

Lee says the game’s story will centre on a basketball player whose personal exploits off the court are just as chaotic as the game on it.

“NBA 2K” developer Visual Concepts has integrated cinematic elements into the single-player mode over the past five years. The gamemakers passed that task to Lee this year in hopes of achieving a slam dunk with gamers.

“NBA 2K16” marks the first time Lee has worked on a motion-capture stage in his career.

The latest installment in the “NBA 2K” series will feature Stephen Curry, James Harden and Anthony Davis on three separate covers.
