Funeral for Father Bernie Hayes will be held Saturday morning

A funeral service for popular local priest, Father Bernie Hayes, will be held on Saturday morning.

The service will take place at 10am at St. Mary’s Parish on Duke Street in downtown Kitchener.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the church.

Hayes passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 82.

Flags are being flown at half-staff at all Waterloo fire stations in honour of Hayes. He was Chaplin for Waterloo Fire Rescue as well as Waterloo Regional Police.
