Child porn investigation launched at Kitchener elementary school

Waterloo Regional Police are involved in a child pornography investigation at a Kitchener school after some naked pictures of students, were sent to other students on mobile phones.

The case involves Grade 7 and 8 students and some even younger.

Waterloo Regional Police wouldn’t tell 570 News what schools or how many – just that the case involves students from more than one.

Staff Sergeant Mike Haffner tells us, they want to use this incident as a form of education – saying it’s not just cell phones being used.

Police are concerned some of the photos show the faces of people, meaning if they made it to the Internet, “it can ruin someone’s life.”
