Cambridge Cares hopes to hit fundraising goal of $100,000 this year

A group of local volunteers are holding a fundraising event tonight to help raise money for the Surgical Department of Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Cambridge Cares has held 5 fundraisers in the past, and hope to hit their goal of $100,000 this year with their 6th.

So far they have raised $83,000 dollars to help buy equipment such as a Digital Mammography machine, and an MRI machine.

Canadian musician Cliff Erickson will be the evening’s entertainment for the 4th year, and there will be tons of appetizers, raffles, auctions and door prizes.

Gail Growden, chairperson of the organizing committee, says that this year they’re looking to get money for necessities.

“This year we are putting our funds toward surgical equipment for the surgical department. That would be beds, medical equipment, pretty much anything the hospital designates as a priority for them.”

You can grab your tickets at any Scotia bank in Cambridge.

The event starts tonight at 7p.m. at the Galt Country Club.
