Grand River Hospital declares gastro-intestinal outbreak

Grand River Hospital has declared a gastro-intestinal outbreak on the fourth floor in the Union Terrace Wing at the Freeport Site. Director of Communications Mark Karjaluoto tells 570 News the hospital has taken precautionary measures to prevent the stomach virus from spreading.

“So far there are three patients who have symptoms, such as nausea and diarrhea. We have isolated those patients to the fourth floor and aggressive cleaning is being done throughout the unit.”

He adds staff are limiting visitors to the unit until further notice.
