Freezing rain warning has been downgraded for Waterloo Region

The freezing rain warning has been downgraded for Waterloo Region.

Environment Canada has now issued a freezing drizzle advisory.

The weather service says an area of snow that spread across the region is changing to freezing drizzle, and should persist for several hours.

Light snow or ice pellets could fall at times.

Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard to detect layers of ice.

Drivers are urged to be cautious on the roads.

It is expected to taper to light rain or drizzle as temperatures rise above the freezing mark this evening.
