The Build a Butt contest back for second year in a row

The Build a Butt contest is back for a second year in a row.

The Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program is encouraging everyone who wants to participate to create a butt.

The butt can be designed out of anything from pottery to play dough, Lego or even cake.

Officials with the program brought the contest back after the success of last year, and they’re hoping to encourage more people to get screened for colorectal cancer.

“Colorectal cancer is a very serious health issue, especially when no one talks about their backsides, bottoms, butts – whatever you want to call it” says Dr. Rachel Halligan.

“But when we start to talk about it, think about it, and participate in cancer screening, it can help.”

Officials say if caught early enough, the disease is 90% curable.

The contest deadline for submissions is March 19,2015. Pictures can be sent to screeningcontest@wrh.on.ca or posted on their ‘Build a Butt Contest’ Facebook page.

Three $500 gift cards will be awarded to winners.
