February was coldest on record in Kitchener

Today of course is March 1st and many of us are saying good-bye and good-riddance to February.

If you thought February was brutal in regards to snow and temperatures you would be right.

570 News Weather specialist John Wilson says numerous records were broken.

“Records only go back to the early part of the 1900’s and 1918 looked mighty cold, I dont have a monthly record but there were a lot of individual daily records. We did pretty well ourselves. Last February was pretty cold with 3 record lows, and above average snow. This February we had 5 record lows plus the all-time ever low for Kitchener at -30.1”

Wilson says on average it was only 2 degrees warmer then Regina Saskatchewan which usually records much colder conditions then this area.
