Conestoga College celebrates Aboriginal culture with 5th annual Pow-wow

Feel the beat of the drum at Conestoga College’s 5th annual Pow-wow!

The family-oriented day includes Aboriginal dancers, drummers and craft vendors, along with a sacred fire, and traditional food.

The event gets under way this morning at 10 at Bingemans Marshall Hall.

The Manager of Aboriginal Services, Myeengun Henry says, now more than ever, more people are looking to learn about Aboriginal history.

“It’s grown so big that most people are very interested in Aboriginal history now at the College, and even across Canada, people are more understanding about Aboriginal history, so they want to come and participate.”

General admission is $5, kids five and under are free, and students that bring a non-perishable food donation will also receive free admission.
