11:00 – Region of Waterloo priorities
Mike Murray, Chief Administrative Officer, Region of Waterloo
The Region of Waterloo is asking what’s important to YOU! Public input is being sought to help the Region identify programs and services that have the greatest impact on the community, while providing the best value for tax dollars. Over 60 per cent of government services are provided by the Region, which will be reviewing these services and identifying new priorities for their 2015-2018 Council term. It’s all about pressing priorities, meeting needs, and when or if levels of service need to be adjusted. Public input will be gathered through a variety of methods including: a telephone survey; online discussion forum; online and paper surveys; and community focus groups.

Some people, of course, don’t bother. Others just don’t get out there in time before the snow is packed down into ice. Which has brought us to the suggestion it’s time for the city to take on the job of plowing residential sidewalks.” Of course with any added service comes added cost to you – the taxpayer.
