Two dead after crash on Highway 6 near Hamilton

Two men are dead and two others are in hospital after a fiery crash south of Hamilton.

Provincial police say an SUV was travelling southbound on Highway 6 just after 7 a.m. Tuesday when it was involved in a head-on crash with a car, which burst into flames.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says one driver died at the scene and the other died in hospital.

The two men, aged 18 and 53, were both from Caledonia but their names have not been released.

A third vehicle was also involved in the crash, and the two men in that vehicle were sent to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say weather conditions don’t appear to be a major contributing factor in the collision.

Provincial police had the highway closed in the area for several hours (between Upper James and the Highway 6 bypass).
