Paterson’s play proves pivotal on potato night

The Kitchener Rangers make it points in five straight for the Kitchener Rangers, who are in fifth spot in the Western Conference.

The Rangers peeled the Kingston Frontenacs 2-1 on Don Cameron Potato Night at the Memorial Auditorium.

David Miller and Mike Davies tickled the twine for the team wearing their third jerseys. Miller got the scoring started in the first, while Davies’ game-winner came less than two minutes into the third period.

Jake Paterson picked up his second win in as many starts at The Aud as a member of the home team.

He’s stopped 68 of 69 shots at home in Kitchener in his two wins.

The Rangers were outshot according to the shot clock 40-30 by Kingston.

Darby Llewellyn earned two primary assists on the night to continue his outstanding play in 2015; making it 11 points in 10 games. The Ann Arbor native had just 12 points in the first three months of the season.

The game marked the return of former Ranger defenceman Evan McEneny, who’s playing in his overage year for the Fronts.

Fellow former Ranger, Tobias Rieder returned to the Aud to drop the puck for the ceremonial faceoff. Rieder has 12 points in 36 games this year for the Arizona Coyotes.
