OPSEU calling on government to bargain fair collective agreement

Dozens of public service workers are picketing outside the Kitchener Service Ontario office in an attempt to get the province’s attention.
They are asking the government for what they call a fair collective agreement.
Deb Tungatt is an executive board member with OPSEU. She tells 570 News that they are currently in bargaining with the provincial government.
“The government has tabled stuff that is basically going to gut our contracts. But we are really concerned about the privatization. Kathleen Wynne is calling it alternative service delivery, it’s still privatization,” says Tungatt”. “I am sure people can remember Walkerton and Air Ornge and what happens when we privatize services and we lose lives.”
Tagatt says with today’s picket, they hope to raise awareness and gain public support. She hopes people will contact their MPP or the premier directly in order to “keep public services public.”
Public Service workers in our province have been without a contract since the end of 2014 and have been bargaining since November 20, 2014.
