Regional Police Chief responds to recommendations from Moncton shootings

Following the fatal RCMP shooting in Moncton, the force has been handed down 64 recommendations to ensure their officers are better prepared for critical incidents.

This has prompted local forces to look into their emergency preparedness.

Waterloo Regional Police Chief Bryan Larkin tells 570’s Midday Show he is confident in the region’s officers.

“When you look at some of our responses to major incidents we are well coordinated…long guns and other equipment is something that we really have been at the forefront in our agency for a number of years.”

In its recommendation, the report calls for better access to firearms, standard equipment for emergency response teams and improvements in radio communications.
