Study says more people choose to work from home

A new study by global workspace provider, Regus, shows 76% of Canadians have seen an increase in remote workers compared to five years ago.

“I think we’ve learned a lot, Regus has certainly learned a lot, I think these employers have learned a lot about what it does take to make a productive work environment” says Craig Townsend, Marketing Director of Regus Canada. “We typically see a hybrid model, if you will, where people work from home for a couple of days, but they need that interaction with their people. So they’ll go into their region and drop into a Regus business facility.”

Officials with Regus say they’ve seen a major jump in the mobile work environment for their workforce, but also workplaces around the country.

“Typically clients moving away from the large space in the downtown centers, if you will, moving to allowing their workers to work from their home, work in secondary markets, such as a Kitchener, such as a Waterloo” adds Townsend. “Not only to reduce the cost, but to really increase the work and life balance, and meet the needs of their workplace.”

Townsend adds more independent businesses, and medium sized workplaces are choosing to use the mobile work environment.
