United Way KW expected to fall short of $5 million dollar goal

The local United Way still needs some help as their fall fundraising campaign nears an end.

The United Way KW fall campaign goal was “$5 million and then some” and as of today, the campaign is forecast to come in at approximately $100,000 short.

“This is the time of year when people tend to think about others – family members, friends, and others in our community” says Jan Varner, United Way KW CEO. “And it’s in this spirit of giving and thinking of others, that we really want to encourage the community to come together to make sure that everyone has what they need – not only now, but well into the future.  Donations to United Way KW will help meet the basic needs of those in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. ”

Campaign Champion Amanda Knapp is challenging the community to give hope to those in our community who are feeling hopeless.

“This region is one of the most caring communities in Canada,” Knapp said. “Please help us reach our goal this year. With each and every dollar used to support those who need it most, it is your neighbour, your family member or your friend who benefits. Your gift really matters.”

Donations can be made online at http://uwaykw.org or by calling Barb Binkle at the United Way KW office at 519-888-6100 x 225
