Special weather statement: Very windy and wet

A very soggy day is in the forecast.
A special weather statement is in effect for most of southern Ontario, including Waterloo Region.
Environment Canada says some areas could receive 15 to 30 millimetres of rain before it tapers off to showers.
Strong winds are also expected – in the 50 to 80 kilometre per hour range with gusts of 90 km/h possible.
Above normal temperatures today will be short-lived with the mercury expected to fall to below freezing later today and overnight.
