Burlington getting $3-million from province to deal with August flood

The province will give up to $3-million to Burlington after the city was pounded with 191 millimetres of rain in a single day this past August.

Mayor Rick Goldring says about 35-hundred homes were flooded and that many didn’t have enough insurance or any at all.

He says the community has raised more than 800-thousand dollars and hopes to raise one-million by Friday — funds the province will match at a 2-to-1 ratio.
