Named accuser steps forward to make new allegations against Ghomeshi

TORONTO – A popular Canadian television actor has gone public with accusations against Jian Ghomeshi, the fired radio star who has up to now faced anonymous allegations that he was physically violent with several women.
Lucy DeCoutere, who plays Lucy on the “Trailer Park Boys”, is reported in the Toronto Star to allege that Ghomeshi, without consent, choked her until she could not breathe and then slapped her three times hard on the side of her head.

The Star reported that DeCoutere said it was time for someone to speak publicly about the matter.

The newspaper said Ghomeshi, his lawyers and public relations staff have not responded to allegations in their latest report.

A spokeswoman for Ghomeshi did not immediately respond to a request from The Canadian Press for comment.

The Star has previously reported that Ghomeshi told the newspaper he did not understand why it was continuing to pursue allegations when “my lawyers have already told you it is untrue.”

He also told the newspaper previously that he “does not engage in non-consensual role play or sex and any suggestion of the contrary is defamatory.”
