Kitchener man faces several charges after police cruiser rammed with stolen vehicle

A 40 year old Kitchener man is facing numerous charges such as theft of a motor vehicle, possession over $5000 and dangerous driving after a series of incidents in Kitchener Wednesday evening.

Regional Police began an investigation after receiving a report that motor vehicle had been stolen near Union and King Streets. During the following half hour, there were a number of dangerous driving complaints involving the vehicle, which is a Cadillac CTS.

Police say the vehicle was then located by police in a parking lot on Westwood Drive when an officer approached the car and saw the male in the driver’s seat. The suspect then rammed the police cruiser, striking the officer.

After ramming several more vehicles he escaped and abandoned the vehicle in a nearby parking lot before being located in an apartment building and arrested.

The officer had no significant injuries.

The man also faces charges of criminal drive suspend, fail to remain and aggravated assault with a weapon on a police officer.
