Ontario to reintroduce distracted driving bill

Ontario is trying to put the brakes on distracted driving in the province.

Transportation Minister, Steven Del Duca is expected to announce the government is reintroducing the distracted driving bill calling on fines up to $1,000 if you get caught texting or talking behind the wheel.

The legislation died when the June 12th election was called.

According to The National Post, a recent Centre for Addiction and Mental Health survey found that more than one-third of licensed Ontario students in grades 10 to 12 – an estimated 108,000 teens – reported having texted while behind the wheel at least once in the past year.

Del Duca will make the announcement in Toronto around 12:30pm.
