Man arrested after incident at Kitchener City Hall on Tuesday

Police surrounded Kitchener City Hall for about an hour Tuesday afternoon after a man allegedly uttered threats toward employees at city hall.

Officers arrived around 3 o’clock and were not letting anyone in or out of the building.

Witnesses report at least one police officer was standing outside the building holding a weapon, while another officer had a canine with him.

“For precautionary reasons we put the building in lockdown while the officers searched for the male. Our canine unit also assisted. During the search, the male was located a short distance away and was arrested for uttering threats.”  said Waterloo Regional Police Inspector, Shaena Morris.

No one was hurt in the incident.
