Ride for Diabetes Research taking place at Waterloo Public Square today

It will be workout clothes instead of suits and bikes instead of laptops this morning for over 70 corporate teams.

The 11th Ride for Diabetes Research is taking place today at Waterloo Public Square between 9:30am-12:30pm.

The stationary bikeathon features over 70 teams. Each of the 5 team members bikes for 7 minutes and then the team time is added up.

Ride Coordinator, Sharon Maheu says they are hoping to raise $100,000.

The money will be used to research a cure in Ontario for Type 1 diabetes.

She says teams raised money with pledge sheets and on-line donations.

There will be a DJ and zumba instructors.

Jennifer Campbell and Mike Farwell, from our sister station Country 106.7, will emcee the event.
