Seniors targeted in lottery scam in Perth County

Provincial police in Perth County are warning the public to guard against a lottery scam that recently targeted elderly residents in St. Marys.
Victims had been conned into withdrawing substantial amounts of money and depositing them into other accounts via money transfer services or money orders — all in return for an apparent prize.
Police say the fraudster has been calling from Jamaica and is using the so-called “Jamaican Lottery Scam”
In a new twist, the fraudster is contacting local taxi companies, ordering a cab to the victim’s front door and arranging for the victim to be taken to their local bank.
