Everybody’s talking about: Trivago Guy

Trivago guy is the tall handsome man you see who stars in the popular commercials for the hotel site, and has been getting a lot of attention.

Tim Williams is the actors name and has become a pop culture phenomenon. With a fake twitter feed and his beltless jeans, he’s gained much online discussion and parodies.

Williams was on a guest on 570’s Midday show and thinks its hilarious what people are saying, “If I had to guess I would pinpoint the controversy on my costume, and the way I look in the commercial.”

A lot of people have criticized Williams for his outfit and the way he acts in the video, Williams wants to remind the public that its just a commercial.

“They asked me to do the job so I showed up in my normal clothes, which is not what you see. Throughout the day we tried on different costumes all day long, what I end up with is what they chose.”

Trivago’s hotel search allows users to compare hotel prices for over 700,000 hotels throughout the world.

Whether people like him or not, the advertising has been successful. The Globe and Mail reported in 2013, Expedia acquired a majority stake in Trivago for $564 million to boost its corporate travel portfolio in a competitive market.
