Waterloo Region Food Truck Fare kicks off

Waterloo Town Square will be buzzing with food lovers today as the Waterloo Region Food Truck Fare kicks off.

Entry is free, and the festival will have food trucks, food tents, and local craft brewers.

Ten percent of the proceeds will go towards the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region.

“What this event is raising funds for is our community support services,” says Mallory Boyer, one of the organizers of the food festival. “Those are services that go into the community and raise awareness about disability issues, and then also work one-on-one with adults living with disabilities to help them advocate for issues that they come up against within the community.”

Boyer, who also serves as the community relations coordinator for the Independent Living Centre, says the idea for the event came from staff at the centre: “We know Waterloo is a huge foodie town, so we thought that it would be great to work with the food trucks and really build around them.”

The festival runs from 3-9 pm.
