Apple and IBM deal a threat to BlackBerry

Apple has penned a surprise deal with IBM to make over 100 business-focused apps iPhones and iPads.

This is a threat to Waterloo-based BlackBerry, as it works to obtain more government and corporate contracts.

BlackBerry shares fell about 4% after this deal was announced, according to the Globe and Mail.

A BlackBerry spokesperson, Kiyomi Rutledge released a statement urging corporate and government clients to not trust anything built on top of Apple’s technology, adding this reinforces the need for secure solutions like the ones BlackBerry has delivered for years.
