HBO Canada to ‘binge-launch’ new Kim Cattrall dramedy ‘Sensitive Skin’

By The Canadian Press

TORONTO – HBO Canada will release the entire first season of the new Kim Cattrall dramedy “Sensitive Skin” at once, in a rare move aimed at capturing the online “binge-watching” audience.

The original Canadian series will premiere July 20 on HBO Canada. Immediately following the television broadcast, all six half-hour episodes of the series will be available on digital platforms.

Subscribers of HBO Canada can watch the episodes on TMN GO, the Shaw Go Movie Central app, the Bell TV app and Telus Optik on the go. The show will continue to air on HBO Canada weekly.

Don McKellar directs and executive produces “Sensitive Skin,” while also starring as Cattrall’s long-time husband. The show follows the aging couple’s struggle to feel relevant and young again by moving downtown to a hip condo.

McKellar said in a release that making the entire series immediately available is ideal for “summer cottagers, insomniacs and people (like my parents) who still can’t use their PVR (no matter how many times they’ve been shown).”

Cattrall, also an executive producer, said she hopes audiences love “Sensitive Skin” as much as she enjoyed making it. The Canadian actress remains best known for playing sex-crazed Samantha on HBO’s “Sex and the City.”

“We had an amazing opportunity to create the series the way we felt it should be told, with honesty, humour and intelligence,” said Cattrall.

Bell Media and Corus Entertainment, which run HBO Canada, said the move to launch the entire season at once was a “Canadian broadcast first.”
