Kitchener Rangers forwards Ryan MacInnis and Nick Magyar selected in NHL Entry Draft

Kitchener Rangers forward Ryan MacInnis was selected 43rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

The St. Louis native is the son of Hockey Hall of Fame defenceman Al MacInnis, a Stanley Cup champion and seven-time All-Star who spent 23 seasons in the NHL with St. Louis and Calgary.

18-year-old, MacInnis finished among the top ten rookie scorers in the OHL during the 2013-14 season with 37 points in 54 games for Kitchener.

Forward Nick Magyar was also selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round. Magyar was 93rd overall.

The 17-year-old rookie posted 46 points for the Rangers and won the Jim Reilly trophy as the team’s leading scorer.

Waterloo’s Kyle Wood, who plays for the North Bay Battalion, was drafted in the third round by Colorado.
