Canadiens goaltender Price out for remainder of East final

BROSSARD, Que. – The Montreal Canadiens will be without star goaltender Carey Price for the remainder of their Eastern Conference final against the New York Rangers.

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien told reporters after today’s optional skate that “Carey Price will not be available tonight, nor for the rest of the series.”

Price was hurt at 3:15 of the second period of the series opener Saturday when Rangers forward Chris Kreider crashed into him skates-first after missing the net on a breakaway.

Price lay on the ice for a while and appeared to injure his right knee.

He got up and stayed in the game, but was replaced by backup Peter Budaj for the third period.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series goes tonight, with New York up 1-0 after winning the opening game 7-2.
