Market vendors will receive more relief funding

Vendors who applied for help from the St Jacobs Farmer’s Market Vendor Relief Fund Phase 2 won’t be waiting much longer to find out the amount of funding they will receive.

Rosemary Smith with the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation says the foundation and the volunteer grants committee have wrapped up the application review process.

The KWCF and the volunteer grants committee sifted through the $890, 000 worth of requests, focusing on inventory and fixtures.

It was decided that half of the grant would be alloted for inventory loss, the remainder will cover fixtures and insurance losses.

Each grant is capped at $10, 000.

Smith says she continues to be absolutely humbled and pleased to live in a community that steps up and cares about its neighbours and citizens.

“I’m very appreciative of all the people, whether they wrote a cheque or whether they gave huge amounts of their time and energy to make these grants possible.”

She adds all 31 vendors who applied will receive funding, with cheques being cut Wednesday to go from the foundation to the Township of Woolwich.

Vendors should be receiving their grant cheques within the next two weeks.

570’s Kathlene Campbell-Conlon spoke with Rosemary Smith of the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation for the update.
