Public information session around Big Music Fest beneficial to residents

Big Music Fest is coming this summer – and those with concerns were able to ask questions and get their concerns addressed at a public information session.Last night, Kitchener residents and promoters gathered to discuss the event, which will be held over three days at McLennan Park.

Ward 6 City Councillor Paul Singh says his greatest concern – and others – is parking.

“Staff, along with the promoter, have been making a concerted effort to ease the stress on the neighbourhood around McLennan Park and focus on parking on large lots like Conestoga.”

Singh says a level of acceptance is starting to build as “the more information you provide, the more accepting people are.”

“We’re looking at a more mature, older crowd so people know how to behave. And the way the organization of the event is going to take place, it’s a fenced event so it’s not people all over the park and it’s controlled entry, once you enter you can’t go back out until you want to leave.”

Both private security guards and members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service will be on site.
