Vigil in Woodstock tonight for Tori Stafford

It was five years ago today, April 8th, 2009 – that eight year old Tori Stafford disappeared while walking home from her school in Woodstock.

On this sombre anniversary, friends and family are invited to gather in the city to remember the young girl with a candlelight vigil.

On the Facebook page of Petrina Fraser, the girlfriend of Rodney Stafford, Tori’s Father, an open invitation reads:

“On Tuesday, April 8th @ 7pm, I will be gathering with some family downtown at the Museum Water Fountain to light a candle & release a purple balloon in Memory of Tori. Please feel free to join us as we remember Victoria Elizabeth Marie Stafford. This is an informal gathering but all are welcome.”

Two people were arrested for her murder in May of 2009.

Terri-Lynne McClintic, the woman seen walking away with Tori in a surveillance video, plead guilty to first degree murder in April of 2010.

Her boyfriend, Michael Rafferty, was found guilty of first-degree murder, kidnapping and sexual assault in May 2012.

He has since been granted an appeal with taxpayers footing the bill.
