Case of measles confirmed in Waterloo Region

Waterloo Region Public Health is reporting this morning a confirmed case of the measles in the region.

It say the person infected does not live here but is a student at the University of Waterloo and apparently contracted it while on a recent trip to Europe.

They were not immunized.

They have also narrowed down the time this person would have been in contact with others when they were most contagious.

Public Health says that time frame was on February 25th between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

They say the student attended a psychology class and rode a city bus from King Street to University Avenue.

They add, those that came in contact with the student, who have not developed symptoms by March 18th, are not expected to develop measles.

They say the risk to the immunized public is very low.
