A major contract has been awarded to the City of Cambridge by the Federal Government.
Earlier this morning, Minister Gary Goodyear announced that the Government of Canada has awarded a pair of contracts to Kodiak Group Holdings and LP Royer for two types of new boots for the Canadian Armed Forces.
Kodiak is located in Cambridge; the contract is valued at about 4.2 million for 28-thousand pairs of boots, which will be manufactured in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland.
Both contracts combined total 11.7 million dollars.
Production will start this spring or summer and will be ready for use in early 2015.
Between the contracts, 58 jobs will be created: 8 in Cambridge and 50 in Quebec where LP Royer is located.
