Beer would cost a lot more if allowed in corner stores

A new study on beer suggests if it’s sold in corner stores, drinkers should expect to pay an average of $10 more for a case of 24 beers.

The figures come from The Beer Store, which is warning of an increase in prices if Queen’s Park deregulates the sale of booze.

The president of The Beer Store is set to release the results of the white paper in a lunchtime speech at the Toronto Board of Trade.

The Ontario Convenience Store Association is calling for alcohol to be sold at corner stores, touting a poll which says 70 per cent of those asked want to see more competition in the province.
