Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,692.38 up 10.90 points):

Teranga Gold Corp. (TSX:TGZ) Miner. Up four cents, or 6.90 per cent, to $0.62 on 31.6 million shares.

Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK). Miner. Down one cent, or 0.16 per cent, to $6.23 on 20 million shares. The stock dropped a day after Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G) (down 70 cents or 2.8 per cent to $24.34 on 3.8 million shares) announced a takeover bid for Osisko valued at $5.95 per share. RBC Capital Markets analyst Dan Rollins suggests a bid of between $6.50 and $7 per share will be needed to get the job done.

Continental Gold Limited (TSX:CNL). Miner. Down one cent, or 0.33 per cent, to $3 on 8.9 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up one cent, or 0.41 per cent, to $2.46 on 7.6 million shares.

First Nickel Inc. (TSX:FNI). Miner. Up half a cent, or 25 per cent, to 2.5 cents on 5.3 million shares.

Western Forest Products Inc. (TSX:WEF). Forest products. Down three cents, or 1.42 per cent, to $2.08 on five million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (964.71 down 0.17 of a point):

Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSXV:PRY). Oil and gas. Down 14.5 cents, or 39.73 per cent, to 22 cents on 12.8 million shares.

Alexandria Minerals Corp. (TSXV:AZX). Miner. Up one cent, or 28.57 per cent, to 4.5 cents on 4.4 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Cogeco Cable (TSX:CCA). Communication services. Down $1.32, or 2.62 per cent to $49 on 77,560 shares. The media and cable company says it will look south to increase the size of its cable TV business as few opportunities exist in Canada. CEO Louis Audet made the comment a day after Cogeco announced a big increase in quarterly revenue and earnings.

Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX:SJR.B). Communication services. Down 43 cents, or 1.7 per cent to $24.88 on 2.6 million shares. The Calgary-based cable and media company posted stronger quarterly financial results Tuesday and said its dividend will go up eight per cent. However, the stock price declined amid analyst concerns about future profit margins.
