UPDATE ON POWER OUTAGES IN WATERLOO REGION

A few thousand power outages to report across the Region due to the ongoing ice storm.

Waterloo North Hydro are reporting 13-hundred customers without power this morning in the Woolwich area. 570 News has learned it is because a transformer line from Fergus is out between Fergus and Woolwich.

Kitchener Wilmot Hydro is reporting that 1600 customers are also currently in the dark. A couple hundred people are without power in Cambridge North Dumfries, emergency crews are also on scene.

Due to the significant ice storm this morning, the city of Waterloo is providing a few different sites where people can gather information to stay up to date on the situation. The city of Kitchener Staff are closely monitoring the weather and will be out around the clock focusing on high priority streets with salters.

Salters will address these high priority streets, only moving into back residential streets once mains are de-iced. Given the forecast, residential streets will not be addressed until the freezing rain ends Sunday afternoon.
