BlackBerry releases Q3 results this morning

Will there be a Christmas miracle today when BlackBerry issues its latest set of earnings?

Likely not according to one analyst looking ahead to the report which comes out before the markets open at 930.

Saj Karim from Canacord Genuity Wealth Management told 570’s Buzz after the Bell there should be no surprises that the results will be negative.

He says between restructuring and severances, it’s going to be difficult to find positives.

Karim adds the report will outline a report of the new CEO John Chen who has been working with customers. And working behind the scenes to get rid of executives that he sees as stale. He adds it appears Chen is committed to keeping the handset business and focusing on government customers. And the company is also seeing positives in the cross platform like BBM Social Networking.

Looking ahead though Saj Karim says if the company lasts it could be successful in what’s referred to as ‘the internet of things’.  He notes BlackBerry manages more on its network than any other smart phone. This could explode in the next few years.
