2007’s Most Intelligent Community says no to online voting

Paper balloting is here to stay at least for the next three municipal elections in Waterloo.

Last night, councillors voted unanimously to stick with paper ballots and ballot tabulators instead of using a computer mouse.

Council was looking at online voting for the election next October.

Councillor Jeff Henry said one of the options in the motion was using online voting for advanced polls, but that option wasn’t moved at the meeting.

Still, sticking with paper ballots will cost $136,000.
