OPP link three cases surrounding Dellen Millard

Three police investigations surrounding Dellen Millard are now being overseen by the OPP.

This includes the death of Tim Bosma, the disappearance of Laura Babcock and the death of Millard’s father, Wayne Millard.

The OPP have taken over the three cases under the province’s Major Case Management system, a tool that is used to efficiently share important information between police services.

When it comes to what links that cases together, OPP Spokesman Pierre Chamberland tells 570 News that, “We can’t discuss any link because it forms part of the evidence that we have to preserve for court purposes.”

However, no one can deny 28-year-old Dellen Millard appears in each investigation.

He and 26-year-old Mark Smich have been charged with first degree murder in the Tim Bosma case. Bosma went missing in early May after taking two men on a test drive in his pickup truck. He was later found burned beyond recognition at Millard’s farm on Roseville Road.

In the case of Laura Babcock, Police have said the two were romantically involved and that the last calls on her mobile phone were to Millard.

Lastly, police have re-opened the case of Millard’s father, Wayne Millard, whose death was previously ruled as a suicide.

The OPP’s M.C.M system was created following the 1995 Paul Bernardo case to help share information about crimes that may have been committed by the same person.

Chamberland says “Police services agreed to share information on cases that are linked in order to be able to ensure the maximized effectiveness of the investigation. We know that offenders pose unique challenges because they don’t necessarily restrict boundaries and jurisdictions.”

The Babcock-Bosma-Millard investigation is being led by OPP Det. Insp. Dave Hillman.
