The Canadian Auto Workers Union has issued a strike notice to Via Rail.
An overwhelming 94% of workers voted in favour of a potential strike that could start as soon as June 14th.
The workers include nearly 2000 customer and on-board service agents and maintenance workers represented by the union.
570 News spoke with several residents and many feel a potential strike would hit students and those who commute to Toronto the hardest.
Some students tell 570 news though that taking the Greyhound or GO Bus is a much cheaper option.
For an adult to travel one way to Union Station from Kitchener, VIA Rail would charge nearly $27, Greyhound $23, and the GO $15.
