Monday April 8th – 4pm

4:12- Kevin Thomason, with the group Smart Growth Waterloo, Re: The Ontario Municipal Board has made a decision that will affect your great-grandchildren. And we need to do something about it. Over the next 20 years, our population in Waterloo Region will rise by nearly 200,000 people, from about 500,000 to over 700,00. That’s an average of 10,000 new people each year who will need homes and jobs in our Region, and who will bring new cars to our streets. The Region of Waterloo has been working to make our cities more liveable through intensification and in ensure that our growth does not sprawl over and destroy our surrounding valuable farmland. This is what we call Smart Growth – a more sustainable way of growth and development.

4:42- Kelly Murumets, President and CEO, ParticipACTION, Re: Sneak it in Week is here. The second annual event is designed to get adults sneaking in a little physical activity in to their workday. The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines, adults need 150 minutes of heart-pumping physical activity per week, but this does not have to be done all at once. Research shows that even tiny bouts of physical activity, as little as 10 minutes at a time, are associated with increased fitness
