Jays season opener tonight

The Toronto Blue Jays get their much anticipated 2013 season underway tonight at home against the Cleveland Indians. You can listen to the game on 570 News at 7pm.

Fans at the Rogers Centre will finally get to see newly acquired ace R-A Dickey take to the mound against the Indians’ Justin Masterson.

Toronto also landed all-star shortstop Jose Reyes and pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle in a mega-trade with the Miami Marlins in the off-season.

Longtime radio voice of the Blue Jays, Jerry Howarth tells 570’s Gary Doyle Show, the goal this season is to have meaningful games in September.

“If you get to 90 wins for the most part you make the playoffs. When you have meaningful games like that it reflects attendance, it reflects opportunities I can see the Blue Jays doing that this year and getting that attendance even up to three plus million fans,” said Howarth.
