Guelph police are issuing a statement on behalf of the family of fallen officer Constable Jennifer Kovach who was killed in the line of duty Thursday.

A public funeral will be held for Constable Kovach but no date has been set.

The statement was prepared by Jennifer’s mother, Gloria Kovach.

 

“On behalf of the family, we would like to sincerely thank the members of the Guelph Police Service , the Guelph Fire Department,  Guelph Wellington EMS and the Guelph Transit Driver who were at the accident scene and the doctors and nurses at the Guelph General Hospital who made every effort to save Jennifer’s life.

I would like to give a heart-felt thank you to Chief Bryan Larkin, the Guelph Police Service, the Guelph Police Association, the citizens of Guelph and friends from around the world for your amazing support, love and kindness towards our family during this very difficult time. 

 Jennifer was a truly amazing person who was living her lifelong dream of being a police officer. She was dedicated to serving her community. Jennifer had a vibrant zest for life and a gregarious smile.  Jennifer was a wonderful daughter, sister, granddaughter, auntie and friend.  She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.  

We remain grateful to all of you who have been a constant source of love and comfort to us all.”
